How would you describe your professional background in a few sentences?
I have been active in forward-leaning technology organizations for over 30 years. Today I offer multi-disciplinary communications, research, go-to-market planning, and marketing strategy as an advisor to support the growth of new industry segments, products, and frontier tech advancements. I have been fortunate to work with seed-stage startups, unicorn market disruptors, and large publicly traded organizations - and I bring many lessons learned over the years into my daily work.
-
What lesson from your first job still guides you today?
I worked as a salesclerk in a record store during my senior year of high school. Physical media is enjoying a bit of a renaissance today, but in the 1980s the brick-and-mortar retailers were the primary venues where people purchased music to listen to at home or in their cars. Store visitors would ask about new releases or recommendations based on their musical interests, and I’ve always understood the importance of the trust that customers give you when seeking knowledge or advice.
-
How do you define success in your current position?
I often work with senior executives who are leading their companies through uncharted waters as they bring cutting-edge products and services to market. The traditional approaches to market entry and ecosystem development don’t always apply 100% when you are defining a new market space. I take pride in understanding the status quo, researching competitive landscapes, and trying to identify every unanswered question that yesterday’s market leaders may have missed.
-
How do you continue to grow and stay current in your field?
The marketing field is undergoing a seismic shift as AI-informed tools and resources hit the mainstream. It’s my job to understand the value that new digital tools can bring and to serve as a field guide to my clients as they navigate their digital transformations across the board. I’m continually experimenting with new applications and speaking with the visionaries who are developing tomorrow’s software so I can better educate my clients with both a short- and long-term view. This helps me see the value I can offer as well.
-
How do you see your profession evolving in the next few years?
I think the strategic marketing profession is entering a really exciting period. Over the next few years, we’ll see AI and automation handle a lot more of the tactical work in areas like content generation, targeting, and analytics. This will free marketers to focus on strategy, creativity, and storytelling. The real skill will be orchestrating these intelligent systems to build authentic, trust-based engagement, where data and human insight work together to deliver more personalized experiences.
-
What values guide your decision-making at work?
I’d say the values that guide my decision-making always start with trust and preparation. My clients count on me to see several moves ahead, so I aim to make sure they’re not just ready for what’s next, but in fact over-prepared - strategically and operationally. I believe in being transparent, research-driven, and proactive; every recommendation I make has to enhance trust, reduce uncertainty, and position the client for confident, well-informed action.
-
How do you hope to make an impact in the future?
I hope to make an impact by helping organizations navigate the uncertainty of an AI-driven future by building clarity and confidence around what really matters. My focus is on translating complex technology shifts into practical and strategic moves that help clients lead as their industries evolve. Ultimately, I want to be the steady voice that helps teams stay grounded, prepared, and adaptable as AI continues to redefine how we communicate, create, and compete.
