Who or what influenced your professional direction most?
The most influential experience in shaping my professional direction was my early career at ADT Security Services/Tyco Integrated Services in Kansas City, MO. I began as an intern in a bustling call center of over 1,000 employees and was fortunate to be given hands-on exposure to nearly every facet of HR - recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, HRIS, FMLA, and ADA compliance. While college taught me the concepts, this role taught me the application. It was a real-world masterclass in human resources, and I’ll never forget how it molded me into the HR professional I am today. That foundation continues to guide my work and fuels my passion for helping others grow.
-
How do you define success in your current position?
I define success by the impact I make on small to mid-sized businesses that wouldn’t otherwise have access to dedicated HR support. My business model is built around providing strategic, affordable, and personalized HR solutions to organizations that don’t need - or can’t justify - a full-time HR professional. With a Master’s in Human Resources Development, I take pride in helping these businesses grow intentionally, develop strong people practices, and build sustainable systems. Success, to me, is seeing my clients thrive with confidence, knowing they have a trusted partner guiding their workforce strategy without breaking the bank.

What trends are shaping your industry right now?
The HR industry is evolving rapidly, shaped by trends like AI integration, employee well-being, hybrid work models, and human-centered leadership. Automation is streamlining administrative tasks, but it also highlights the need for empathy and ethical decision-making - areas where I lead with courtesy, respect, and emotional intelligence. As businesses prioritize mental health, flexible work environments, and continuous learning, HR professionals are being called to create inclusive, growth-oriented cultures. My background in Human Resources Development and my commitment to serving small and mid-sized businesses position me to meet these challenges head-on. I help organizations navigate change with strategic clarity and a people-first mindset, ensuring that both business goals and employee needs are met with care and intention.
-
How would you describe your leadership style?
My leadership style is grounded in empathy, respect, and strategic partnership. I lead with courtesy and care, always considering how decisions impact both individuals and the broader organization. I believe in empowering others - whether it’s a client, a team member, or a business owner - by listening deeply, offering clear guidance, and fostering growth through collaboration. I’m not just focused on outcomes; I’m invested in the journey. By blending emotional intelligence with practical HR expertise, I help small and mid-sized businesses build cultures where people feel valued, supported, and inspired to succeed.
-
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
The accomplishments I’m most proud of reflect both personal growth and meaningful impact. Earning my Master’s degree in Human Resources Development laid the foundation for a career built on strategic thinking and people-centered solutions. Serving as the HR Director on the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Anti-Violence Project - an organization that supports children affected by domestic violence - allowed me to use my skills to advocate for vulnerable communities and drive compassionate change. And launching my own business as an independent HR consultant has been a defining milestone. It’s given me the opportunity to support small and mid-sized businesses with affordable, high-impact HR guidance, helping them grow with integrity and care. Each of these moments has shaped who I am as a professional and as a person.

What are you most excited about in the next stage of your career?
The next step in my career is to expand my business and become a trusted one-stop shop for small and medium-sized businesses seeking comprehensive HR support. I’m passionate about helping these organizations grow with confidence, clarity, and care - offering everything from strategic planning and compliance to employee development and branding. As I scale, I also want to create meaningful job opportunities for others by building a remote-first team that values balance, flexibility, and well-being. My goal is to foster a work environment where professionals can thrive personally and professionally, while ensuring our clients experience seamless, accessible, and high-impact HR solutions.
